Original publisher's blue linen tape spine (lose) over illustrated card, lettered red and blue on the front cover. Front panel in good order showing Buster in a red sailor's outfit, carrying a rife and Tige walking besides him. Some edge wear with a little marking to covers, otherwise sound, used but complete, very good minus with clean leaves. A companion to the more regularly seen '.......and His Troubles' which is more available now in Print on Demand than in the original condition.
Although originating in America, this strip seems to only have been available in Great Britain through Dean & Sons. Scarce Artist: Richard F. Outcault.
Buster Brown was a comic strip character created in 1902 by Richard F. Outcault. Adopted as the mascot of the Brown Shoe Company in 1904, Buster Brown, his sister Mary Jane, and his dog Tige, were well known to the American public in the early 20th century. The character's name was also used to describe a popular style of suit for young boys, the Buster Brown suit, that echoed his own outfit
