What an artist Rene Mable Neighbor Cloke (4 October 1904 – 1 October 1995)^[1] was a British illustrator and water-colourist best known for her prolific output of artwork for children's books and greeting cards. Her work often displayed a whimsical quality, with frequent subjects being flora and fauna, pixies, fairies, sprites, and elves. Here in her mid 40's she just seems to be enjoying the colour and vibrancy of both a bygone age through the subject matter of Punch & Judy at a time of renewal and peace following the war years
