The Two Princes
Hello those collectors of the wonderful Florence anderson
Florence Mary Anderson nee MacArthur. ‘“Molly” MacArthur, the artist and stage designer, was born in Chelsea, London on 27th October 1893, the second child of the Liberal MP William MacArthur and Florence Creemer (nee Clarke). She was trained at the Westminster School of Art and was registered as a student in 1915. She married James Sinclair Standish Anderson on 15 February 1917, but appears to have used his name professionally from at least 1914.
She painted a series of postcards for Mansell, but is best known as an illustrator of children’s books. She illustrated at least thirty books between 1914 and 1935 but I cannot find her listed as contributing to this publication but her artwork shines out
The book we know little about as the text block is loose and has lost the FFEP and title page (and i expect a frontispiece) BUT the remaining colour and monograph illustration sing Florence Anderson.............a VERY rare find that would usually be pulped many years ago ~ get it while its here
